Three particular points of note:
- New members - We welcome Alfi Smith, Colin Macelod and Jacqueline Conroy to the parent council. For a full list of 2016/17 members, see Who we are.
- Homework - You'll see from the minutes that Depute Colin Nicoll attended the meeting to discuss the results of the Banchory Academy homework working group's survey. To read the survey report, click Homework Survey findings.
- Traffic safety is a great cause of concern at present and we want to keep all members of our community safe. The main problems are risky behaviour by youngsters out and about in the village at lunchtimes and by vehicles in the school car park. After the meeting, Cllr Jill Webster contacted the local police regarding a safe parking/drop-off initiative that runs elsewhere in Aberdeenshire. We hope to introduce something similar for Banchory.
The next parent council meeting is on Thursday October 6th at 7pm in the school library.
Now that the pupils are back in full swing it's time for us parents to get back into gear too!
Next Thursday September 8th is your chance to come along and find out more about the Parent Council, hear our report on last year and help us set our priorities for this year.
There are two parts to the meeting - firstly, at 7pm there is the Parent Forum annual reporting meeting in the Drama Studio. This is essentially the AGM of all the parents (all parents/guardians are automatically members of the Parent Forum). It is where your Parent Council reports back on the last year and where the Parent Council for this new year is formed. The Parent Council is the representative body for the parents and meets approximately monthly in school term.
Immediately following the Parent Forum AGM, at 7.30pm the first Parent Council meeting will take place in the school library. All Parent Council meetings are open to all parents.
We look forward to seeing faces old and new alike. If you can't make the meeting itself, you can keep up with what's going on via this site, our Facebook page or our Twitter feed (@bapc_Banchory) to find out about relevant information, including minutes of all meetings.
* Survey runs 1st - 30th June 2016 *
Have your say on how you think Banchory should develop in future: what should be kept and what changed? It is also your chance to say how this might be done.
