Two recently published documents illustrate the changes to the S4-S6 (Senior Phase) under Curriculum for Excellence. Well worth a look.

- Universities Scotland have published this paper on Implications of Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) in Scottish schools on admissions for universities in England, Wales & Northern Ireland. The paper "sets out the implications of CfE for university admissions, and is intended to serve as a helpful brief for universities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland". We know that this is an area that concerns a number of our parents, so we hope you find the link useful.

Did you know that the school has a Health and Wellbeing Committee supporting the school's Health and Wellbeing policy? Over the past year, the committee has spent a lot of time looking at the issue of energy drinks and their effect. This was in response to concerns raised via parent councillors and culminated in the recently-implemented ban on caffeinated energy drinks in school. Feedback on the ban has so far been positive.

The SPTC (Scottish Parent Teacher Council) want to hear what you think about the information available to you about CfE (Curriculum for Excellence) and the new National qualifications. They are running an online survey open until Friday October 17th - please take a few minutes to provide feedback.
The agenda for this week's Parent Council meeting is now available here. The meeting is on Thursday October 2nd at 7:00pm in the school library. It will incorporate an SGM to ratify changes to our constitution (for details, see earlier post from Sept 14th).
